It’s been 3 years since I left to study abroad in London for a semester. I can’t believe it’s been so long–in the course of 15 short weeks, I never expected to fall completely head over heels for a place. When I left the USA, I never saw myself as a city girl, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I grew to like it–the hustle and bustle of commuting on the tube, exploring different areas, meandering around the free museums, popping into pubs & clubs, and the list goes on and on. I’ve never felt so at home in a foreign country–I actually felt homesick for London when I came back to the USA. I’m pretty sure I left a piece of my heart there–if the opportunity presented itself, I would move there in a heartbeat.
Here is a recap of some of my favorite moments with the amazing people I had the pleasure of sharing this experience with:
That time I looked out my window for the first time.
That time Jackie & I had a Mary Kate & Ashley Winning London moment.
That time I dressed like a Gossip Girl character and stood by a telephone booth.
That time we all started to miss Asian food and got dim sum.
That time we ventured to Camden Market and had “bang bang” chicken.
That time I first laid eyes on an All Saints store & their vintage sewing machines and I knew it was love.
That time we played with prints and posed in front of our building.
That time we made headbands out of recycled paper–a la eco-chic.
That time we LOL-ed in front of Marble Arch.
That time it really started to feel like winter and I experimented with a questionable beret & colored tights (yet another Gossip Girl moment).
That time I looked over the River Thames on my last day and the way the sky was lit up made the moment feel so bittersweet–as if London felt the same way I did. It was sad but I knew I would be back one day. #nofilter
Here is a video that perfectly sums up the whole experience:
Thanks to the beautiful city of London and all the friends I made along the way for making this one of the most memorable experiences of my life!
