life lately & my season confusion

Hey all–long time no see.  I know it’s been a while since my latest post and I apologize–life has been a bit hectic lately, but still fun nonetheless.  I’ve snapped a couple of photos along the way (you can stay up to date with what I’m up to @mfashiondiary on Instagram).  Anyways, onto my update on my wardrobe for fall, or rather, whatever Northern California weather’s idea of fall is.  We’re experiencing an Indian summer and I’m trying to enjoy the warm weather while it lasts, but anxious to get on with chunky sweater season.

Top: Target at Plato’s Closet less than $10 (which I’m probably wearing backwards) / Shorts: American Apparel (similar) / Purse: Libaire U.S.A. (similar) / Sunglasses: purchased @ Lids for $3 (similar/ Necklace: Forever 21 / Boots: Clarks (similar) / Socks: Target

I’m a victim of seasonal wardrobe confusion.  On the plus side, I am having an easier time transitioning my summer pieces into fall–I’m giving my high-waisted shorts a couple more go’s before stashing them away (high-waisted anything is one of my weaknesses).  Also, to make this look more “fall,” I added some boots with some scrunched-down high socks.  Instant fall feel, California style.

And here’s a cliché photo to end this post, taken by my boyfriend, Lukasz.  He took this photo as a joke but I ended up liking it enough to post it here.  Some words of advice:  “Don’t forget to stop and smell the roses.”  Commence the eye rolls.  But I did, and at least I ended up with a fun photo in the process.

LOOKOUT

I had a hard time classifying this look.  Some of the questions I asked myself:  Does the hat make me look like a pilgrim?  Or an Amish Indiana Jones?  Does the blouse make me look like a peasant?  Oh well, let’s not overthink this.  I had a ton of fun taking these pictures and the pieces of this outfit were all cheap finds–and I’m a sucker for a good bargain.  So let’s just say the theme of this look is adventure–I ventured into new territory with this look.  I never really saw myself as a hat person, but after exploring more and more fashion blogs, I see how easily they can pull a look together and completely transform it.  Here’s to more style adventures!

xx,
Michelle
