Labor Day

Dress: H&M (similar), Hat: Forever 21 (similar), Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs, Sandals: Lucky Brand

Today marks the first official day of September. Fall is creeping closer and closer, but luckily for us in the Bay Area, it still feels like summer as of late. I’ve been wearing this dress out all summer long and trying to get the most use out of it. This dress is so easy–throw it on and you’re good to go. The black-and-white print goes with practically any accessories and it transitions perfectly from day to night–just add a long cardigan. I’m a big fan of pieces that are functional and that’s what my style has been gravitating towards lately. I’m sure I’ll be wearing this into fall and perhaps through another Indian summer (if the weather permits).

lost at sea

out of the house: seaside

On Saturday, my mom and I decided to grab lunch by the sea.  It’s one of her favorite things to do on the weekends–get out of the house and head towards the ocean.  In reality, it really isn’t that that far away from our us so I don’t know why we don’t head out there more often.  The drive there was lovely–winding, but in a fun, adventurous kind of way, not the sickening kind.  The sky was gray, which I’m not always a huge fan of, but that day it seemed to fit.  Ever since I studied abroad in London last year, I have a newfound appreciation for gray skies.

These photos were taken while waiting for a table–technically we had brunch plans, but they ended up turning into late lunch plans.  We waited around for a while because the place we had lunch is pretty popular.  It is home of the famous “Sam’s Lobster Roll” that was named as one of America’s Top 5 Sandwiches back in 2007.

The verdict on the sandwich?  It was pretty good–maybe 4 out of 5 stars.  My only wish is that the lobster it came with was doused in more butter, but I think that’s just a matter of personal preference and taste–I insist on fully-coating my seafood in butter before ingesting it.  Overall, it’s a great place to have lunch with great views of the sea, great service aside from the long wait, and the best clam chowder I’ve ever had.  If you check out this restaurant, make sure you try both the lobster roll and the chowder!

Details on the Outfit

I guess I’d call this outfit “Snow Leopard at the Beach.”  I love this top I got from Forever 21 for just $14.50 (4 similar styles here: Style #1, Style #2, Style #3, and Style #4).  The first time I saw it I hesitated because I was in penny-pinching mode, but I regretted it after I left and ended up returning for it the day after.  Sadly, they ran out of the size small, so I had to go with the medium, but I guess I can work with the longer, more flowy effect.

I’m obsessed with my new hunter green Gap jeans, despite all the bunching around the crotch.  I noticed that this tends to happen with a lot of my pants (Any tips on finding better fitting pants? I’d really appreciate it!).  Anyways, they’re comfortable, I love the material, and the inside zipper keeps it modern but still classic.
